Meeting 10/9/12


TUESDAY! October 9nd 2012 
5:45 - 6:45 at the W. Center

Working on: Girls need to turn in all work that has not been turned in yet and the paperwork for any optional badges you worked on. Anything that is not turned in on Tuesday will not be awarded at the ceremony!

We will be preparing for the ceremony next week and choosing which badges/petals to work on next.

What to Bring: $1 dues, Binder, Girls who worked on the WoW! Journey this summer should return their Water Promises, badge requirement form for optional badges.

10/7/12 Hiker Badge

Sunday October 7th 2PM -4PM
At the state Park

Working On: 
Brownies will be finishing their "Hiker" badge and Daisies will be working on their petals. Also girls who participated this summer will be finishing up their WOW! Journey.

What to bring: 
Wear sturdy shoes, sneakers or boots, as we'll be tromping through the woods. Bring a trail snack and water for the hike, and bring your binder with the "trail signs" handout I gave out at the last meeting. Girls who worked on the WoW! Journey this summer should bring their "Water Promises" handout so we can finish up the Journey.

Brownie Vest Patch Placement

Just putting this here in case any of  you need to see it again. I have to look at it about every time I put a new patch on.

WOW! Award Patch Placement

Last night most of the girls earned their "Love Water" patch from the WOW! Journey Award Set. You can choose to wait until she recieves all of the patches to put them on together or go ahead and put it on, just keep in mind that it goes with a larger set. This is what the set looks like completed.


It goes above the Brownie Quest (Keys patches) Award on the left side of the vest, but not too high, we still have another Journey to complete after this one, so leave some room.

Working on: Having fun! We'll be eating pizza and making SWAPS. SWAPS (Some Whatchamacallit Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) is a Scouting tradition that can be traced back to Lord Baden Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts. You can read the history and etiquette of SWAPS after the page break.

Forms and documents

You might want to bookmark this post. I'm going to stick all of the documents we use in here and if you ever need one you can come back and print it out. I'll be adding to as we go along.

Badge Requirement Form - Fill out for missed badge work or optional badges

Brownie Badge Record - We're going to use this to track your child's awards, feel free to print one out and track along with us.

Emergancy Contact and Information Form - We'll require a new one of these every year or if your information changes, please print one out and turn it in.

Media Release Form - Everyone is so picky now that we have to have these on file if we do a public website or blog. I'll hand them out at the 6/25 meeting but if you've missed it please print it out and turn it in to us.

6/25 Meeting

5:45 - 6:45 Monday June 25th at the Church Youth Center

Working on: Girl Scout Law Learner and parental meeting. If possible please stay during this meeting so that we can discuss a few things.


What to Bring: $7.00 if you choose to purchase the book we will be working in this summer. I would advise buying it because we will be using it a lot. If you are unable to bring the $7.00 but still would like for your girl to have a book please let us know. *Update: Cookie Dough cards can be used for the books.*

How to use this blog

We will be using this blog to keep you updated on our plans, events, and what we've been doing.

Each meeting will be posted ahead of time with all of the pertinent information. After the meeting we will be posting "minutes" of what was done and instructions on make-up for any girl who missed the meeting. That way it is all presented in an easily navigatable format.

All upcoming events or meetings will be posted directly at the top right under "Dates To Remember."

If you are looking for a specific post you can go over on the right to the "Blog Archive" and search by date, to the "Labels" and search by subject, or down at the bottom there is a search box that you can search by keyword.

Also, some of the parents don't use Facebook, and though we will be putting a link to each post in Facebook, you can also sign up down at the bottom of the page to have each post emailed directly to you so that you don't miss anything.

We thought that this would cut down on confusion as the Facebook posts move around the page depending on whether someone comments or not.

I posted a few picture posts so that you could play around with the functions and see how the page works.

We will never post your child's last name or give out a specific meeting locations on this page for safety reasons. If you have questions about a meeting location please contact us via Facebook or phone.
